Obituary For Louis Edward Richey

Louis Edward Richey, 72 , of Sedalia, MO passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at Bothwell Regional Health Center, Sedalia. He was born on June 5, 1949 in Higginsville, MO the son of Alfred John Richey, Jr and Betty Jean Heiple, who preceded him in death. On February 3, 1984 in La Monte, he was united in marriage to Joann E. Burrow, who resides in the home. Louis was a member of Crossroad Church of God, Sedalia. He enjoyed playing the piano, singing gospel music, working with flowers and making flower arrangements. Louis enjoyed meeting and getting to know people, but most importantly he enjoyed his family. He never said anything negative about anyone, but man- if you made him mad, you knew it not by his words or actions but by his birthmark on the top of his little bald head getting bright red. Although Louis had his own physical battles, he was always the first to help and serve others- he was truly the hands and feet of Jesus. He enjoyed serving as a team member and as a greeter at Rea Funeral Chapel, until his health would no longer allow it.

Besides his wife, he is survived by four children, Dr. Bradley Wayne Richey (Paula) of Richmond, MO, Danny Ray Burrow, Jr. (Sheri) of La Monte, Danya Dunnavant (Larry) of Sedalia, Elizabeth Smeraldo (Robert) of La Monte; six brothers, Stanley Richey (Caroline) of Joplin, MO, Marvin Richey (Patty) of Warrensburg, MO, Darrel Richey (Joyce) of Leeton, MO, Ronnie Richey of Leeton, MO, Gary Richey (Diane) of Windsor, MO, Dennis Richey of Warsaw, MO; thirteen Grandchildren, Morgan, Hannah (Aaron), Timothy, Nathan (Paige), Emily (Josh), Brianna, Andrew, Hailey, Dakota, Josiah, Madison, Micah, and Hayden; four great grandchildren, Makenzie, Adalynn, Caiden, and Carter. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother at infancy, Billy Richey; and grandchildren at infancy, Sarah and Joseph Burrow. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 7, 2022 at Rea Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Billy Friend, Rev. Randy Gray and Pastor Dave Banister officiating. Family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 6, 2022 at the funeral chapel. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery, Sedalia. Pallbearers will be his Grandsons. Honorary bearers will be his Granddaughters. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
