Lula Belle Underwood

Lula Belle Underwood, 86, of Houstonia, MO, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall, MO. She was born on October 15, 1937, in Collins, MO, the daughter of Thomas Milo Baker and Ida Mae (Baker) Mott, who preceded her in death.

On December 6, 1957, in Houstonia, MO, she was united in marriage to Donald Joe Underwood, who preceded her in death on May 22, 2022.

Lula was a member of the Houstonia United Methodist Church until it dissolved. She graduated from Houstonia High School in 1955 and worked until 1957 when she married Don Underwood. She was a homemaker and a wonderful mother to her two children, attending all their activities and sporting events. Lula was very social. She loved visiting with all of her friends and never knew a stranger. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, playing cards, and going to their events.

Lula is survived by a son, Mark Underwood (Cheryl) of Houstonia; a daughter, Jeana Stevens (Stan) of Houstonia; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Dawson of Houstonia; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, Lula was also preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Baker, and a brother, Harry Baker.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 3, 2024, at Rea Funeral Chapel with Jim Hazell officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel.

The burial will follow at Houstonia Cemetery, Houstonia, MO.

Pallbearers will be Zack Bremer, Jimmie March, Blake Underwood, Justin Dinwiddie, Remingtin March, Maverick March, and Logan Bremer.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Houstonia Cemetery Association in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
