Mark Alan Gunn, 56, of Sedalia, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri. He was born on June 17, 1970, in Denver, Colorado, the son of Charles D. Gunn and Margaret (Thomas) Gunn, both of whom preceded him in death.
On May 6, 2018, in Sedalia, he was united in marriage to Jeccica Newman, who survives in the home.
Mark was a proud 1988 graduate of Apollo High School in Owensboro, Kentucky. Following high school, he began what would become a long and successful career with Tyson Foods in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Through his strong work ethic, dedication, and leadership, Mark advanced within the company and became a Superintendent at Tyson Foods in Sedalia in 2000. He continued to grow in his career, eventually serving as General Production Manager before retiring after 32 years of dedicated service to Tyson Foods.
Outside of work, Mark treasured spending time with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed bringing everyone together around the grill and was well known for his love of barbecuing. He also enjoyed fishing, playing softball, shooting billiards, and cheering on his favorite teams, the Denver Broncos and Kentucky Wildcats.
Mark loved visiting thrift stores and garage sales, always on the lookout for baseball cards, football cards, and other pieces of memorabilia to add to his collection. For Mark, the thrill was often in the search and discovering something special along the way.
Above all, Mark will be remembered for the way he cared for others. He was selfless, generous, and always willing to go above and beyond to help someone in need. He had a way of making a lasting impression on the people he met simply by being himself. His kindness, friendship, and love for those around him will not be forgotten. Mark will be deeply missed and forever loved by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In addition to his wife, Jeccica, Mark is survived by seven children, Maison Gunn and his wife, Santanna, of Cabot, Arkansas, Micah Gunn of Columbia, Missouri, Jaiden Gunn of Warrensburg, Missouri, Ethan Gunn of Sedalia, Missouri, Dereck Gunn of Sedalia, Missouri, Natalya Gunn of Sedalia, Missouri, and Jamenson Gunn of Sedalia, Missouri; three grandchildren, Violet, Phoebe, and Whitney; two brothers, Mike Gunn and his wife, Andrea, of Nashville, Tennessee, and Matt Gunn and his wife, Crystal, of Detroit, Michigan; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and extended family members.
