Mark Alan Lappat

Mark Alan Lappat, 63, of Sedalia, MO, passed away at his home on Sunday, July 14, 2024. He was born on September 13, 1960, in Carson City, IA, the son of Cecil George Lappat and Frances Maxine (Shoemaker) Lappat, who preceded him in death.

In June 1985, he married Colleen Kelly at Powell Gardens, who resides in Columbia, MO.

Mark was a man of many talents. He raced at the state fairgrounds with his dad Cecil in car E1, since he couldn't have 13, a testament to his love for speed and adventure. He worked for the family shop l&b auto sales and continued automotive work his entire life. But his skills didn't stop there. Whether it was computers, plumbing, electrical work, or landscaping, he could do it all and did it freely with love every time. He was a teacher to all, including his children and even his 6-year-old granddaughter. His last years were spent tinkering, helping people, raising two grandkids, making something of nothing, and fixing everything. His diverse skills and his willingness to help others stand as an inspiration to us all.

In addition to his wife, Mark is survived by four children, Lynnette Neth (Tristan) of Sedalia, Denise Hamilton (Mike) of Columbia, MO, Cody Lappat of Sedalia, and Shandy Green (James) of Sedalia; 17 grandchildren; Bobbie Jo, Flyisha, Andrew, Christian, Elyssa, Nathan, Aleister, Jesse, Nikolas, Bryce, Xavier, Laureli, Charlotte, Haley, Kaidyn, Izzy, and Brogan; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Cheryl Curry (Fredrick) of Clifton City, MO; a brother, Jerry Lappat of Sedalia; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by two brothers, James "Jimmy" Lappat and Kerry Lappat.

A celebration of life service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, July 26, 2024, at Rea Funeral Chapel.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel.

Honorary bearers will be Larry Brownfield, Bob Newman, Bobby Naylor, and Ricky Barnett.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
