Mary Louise Ditton

Mary Louise Ditton, 98, of Sedalia, MO, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 20, 2025, at Bothwell Regional Health Center. She was born on May 27, 1927, in Pettis County, MO, the daughter of Millard and Dolly (McFatrich) DeHaven, who preceded her in death.

In January 1946, in Olathe, KS, Mary was united in marriage to Lawrence A. Ditton, Sr., who preceded her in death on February 21, 2001.

Mary attended Smith-Cotton High School. After high school, she began her career with Southwestern Bell Telephone as an operator. Following her marriage to Lawrence, a dedicated member of the U.S. military, Mary embraced the life of a military spouse, moving frequently throughout his 30-year career.

Wherever life took her, Mary had a remarkable ability to connect with people and form lasting friendships. She was widely known for her exceptional cooking and baking, especially during holidays and family gatherings. Her home was a cherished place where loved ones came together, made memories, and felt truly welcomed. Mary had a gift for making others feel heard, valued, and deeply loved. Her warmth and generosity will be remembered always.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol Gordon (Gearry) of Sedalia; her son, Lawrence A. Ditton, Jr. (Kathy) of Olathe, KS; six grandchildren: Stacy, Kate, Dana, Larry, Jake, and Adam; eight great-grandchildren; her brother, Bill DeHaven of Sedalia; her sister, JoAnn Foote of St. Charles, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Beth Ditton; and two brothers, Kenneth DeHaven and Buzz DeHaven. Following the passing of her daughter, Mary lovingly raised her grandson, Adam Eckles.

A graveside service and burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Crown Hill Cemetery, Sedalia with Honce DeHaven officiating.

Pallbearers will include Adam Eckles, Jake Ditton, Larry Ditton, and Bill DeHaven.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Bothwell Regional Health Center Foundation, in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
