Mary Catherine Lindley, 60, of Sweet Springs, MO, passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2025, at her home. She was born on December 10, 1964, in Quincy, IL, the daughter of John Platt and Margaret Anne (Kaneff) Platt, who reside in Sweet Springs.
On June 1, 1985, in Sedalia, MO, she was previously married to William Lindley, who resides in California.
Mary was a proud graduate of Sacred Heart High School, Class of 1983. She went on to attend State Fair Community College, where she studied Journalism. She briefly worked for the Sweet Springs Herald, writing columns, and later found joy in freelance writing through blogs and online groups where she loved sharing her strong and passionate political opinions.
Mary was an avid sports fan. The Pittsburgh Steelers were her beloved team, and she enjoyed cheering them on - unless they were playing her second favorite team, the Kansas City Chiefs. Above all, Mary cherished her family. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her two grandchildren, whom she adored and lovingly spoiled with Steelers memorabilia.
In addition to her parents, Mary is survived by her daughter, Ashley King (Ryan) of Blue Springs, MO; four sisters, Elizabeth Higgins of Knob Noster, MO, Lynn White (Larrie) of Lincoln, MO, Sandra Funderburgh (Jim) of South Charleston, OH, and Valerie Redmon (Rick) of Springfield, OH; two brothers, Steven Platt (Beth) of Freeburg, MO, and John Platt (Angie) of Bates City, MO; two grandchildren, Ari and Grayson King; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members; and her four legged fur baby, "Liebchen".
Mary was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E.C. Kaneff, and her paternal grandparents, Edward and Mary Platt.
A celebration of life gathering will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia, MO.
