Mary Louise Thompson

Mary Louise Thompson, 75, of Sedalia, MO, passed away at her home, on June 8, 2025, in Sedalia. She was born on September 19, 1949, in Tallahassee, FL, the daughter of Harvey S. Mowrey and Marjorie J. Aultman, who preceded her in death.

She was united in marriage to Charles Michael Thompson, who also preceded her in death on August 11, 2008.

Mary graduated from Waverly High School in the class of 1968. After graduation, she joined the United States Air Force as a Military Police Officer and was honorably discharged in 1971. Following her military service, she started a state-licensed daycare, which she operated for 29 years. Later, she returned to college to become certified in early childhood development and continued her work with children as a home visitor for Early Head Start.

Mary was an active member of the Community of Christ Church, where she held the priesthood office of teacher. She was also a member of Church Women United. In addition, she enjoyed participating in the Silver Sneakers program.

Mary volunteered at the Open Door Pantry for many years, and she collected yarn throughout the year to knit hats for those in need. She had a love for her pets, plants, reading, and crocheting. However, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Mary is survived by two daughters, Michaelle and Rhonnie Bergman of Sedalia, MO, and Christina and Tim Alvarado of Blue Springs, MO; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several brothers.

A celebration of life service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Community of Christ Church, 2000 S. Ingram Ave, Sedalia, MO, with Pastor Marilyn Grechus officiating.

A private family burial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Open Door Ministry, or Community of Christ Church, Sedalia, in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
