Melvin Ray Hix

Melvin Ray Hix, 69, of Green Ridge, MO, passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at his home. He was born on December 1, 1955, in Lincoln, MO, to Flavel Woodrow Hix and Ruby Hix, both of whom preceded him in death.

Melvin owned AA Discount Muffler in Versailles, MO, for over 20 years. He was a skilled mechanic and welder, a devoted father, and an avid NASCAR fan, with Dale Earnhardt being his favorite driver. He had a deep appreciation for vintage cars, especially his 1969 Chevy truck. One of his favorite pastimes was hunting for arrowheads and spending time outdoors. He took great pride in all his children.

Melvin is survived by his son, Marcus Hix (and wife, Deni) of Grandview, MO; his daughter, Mychelle Ogle (and husband, Jason) of Archie, MO; his long-time partner, Della Hilgar; ten grandchildren; and four brothers: Lonnie, Donnie, Shorty, and Jim Hix. He is also survived by three sisters: Roberta Riley, Barbara Irwin, and Loretta McCall; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Melvin was preceded in death by two sons, Justin Ray Hix and Marvin Woodrow Hix; three brothers, Marvin Hix, David Hix, and Ethan Flavel Hix; and two sisters, Donna Lou Redding and Connie Jo Hix.

A celebration of life gathering with family and friends will be announced at a later date.

Cremation arrangements are being handled by Rea Funeral Chapel.
