Obituary For Norman L. Dial

Norman L. Dial, 83, of Nelson, MO, passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2023, at Legendary Nursing And Rehabilitation Center in Marshall, MO.
He was born on August 8, 1940, in Blackwater, MO, the son of Edgar L. Dial and Cecil N. (Cureton) Dial, who preceded him in death.

On October 26, 1958, in Memorial Baptist Church, Nelson, MO, he was united in marriage to Barbara M. Conaway, who resides in the home.

Norman worked many years as a farmer and carpenter. He enjoyed many hobbies throughout his lifetime. In high school, he participated in various track events and won several medals for his efforts. In his adult years, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, roller skating, pitching horseshoes, woodworking, and taxidermy. He put much effort and precision into everything he crafted. He made beautiful cedar chests, baseball bats, rocking horses, quilt racks, and other gifts for his family. He was a man of many skills and talents. He enjoyed playing games with friends and family. He always had a smile and a chuckle for his grandchildren. He was a wise and thoughtful man. He was always willing to help, and he served his church and community in many ways. Norman was ordained as a Deacon at Memorial Baptist Church on August 7, 1994. There, he also served as a trustee, taught Sunday School, and befriended many pastors throughout his lifetime. He leaves behind a rich legacy of faithful love and steadfast support.

In addition to his wife, Norman is survived by four children, Steve Dial (Susan) of Nelson, Bonnie Francis (Donald, Jr.) of Nelson, Sonia Pragman of Pilot Grove, and Cynthia Magruder (Cale) of Augusta, KS; nine grandchildren, Jennifer, Jason, Linda, Chelsea, Mark, Amanda, Haley, Aspen, and Faith; ten great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Norman was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence Dial and Alvin Dial.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at Rea Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Ron Griffith officiating.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the chapel.

The burial will be at Berea Cemetery, Nelson, MO.

Pallbearers will be Mark Dial, Jason Francis, Bruce Bosley, Junior Bosley, Craig Dierking, and Earl Wright.

Honorary bearers will be Roy Hofs, Randy Winstead, and Great Grandsons.

Memorial contributions may be made to Memorial Baptist Church in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
