Obituary For Orville Leon Welch

Orville Leon Welch, 75, of Sedalia, MO passed away Sunday, May 1, 2022, at his home. He was born on June 24, 1946 in Flat, MO the son of Orville Don Welch and Gladys Augusta (York) Welch, who preceded him in death.

On May 16, 1966 in Independence, MO, he was united in marriage to Nancy Pickard, who survives of the home.

Orville was a Jefferson City High School graduate. After graduation he enlisted in the Missouri Air National Guard in 1965 working as a Nike Missile Technician stationed out of Lone Jack, MO and was stationed in St. Louis from 1969 to 1970. In 1971, he relocated to Ft. Lee VA for Helicopter Mechanic training. Orville was able to retire from Whiteman Air Force Base, Knob Noster, MO in 1989 as an E-8 First Sergeant. After retiring from the military, he worked at Gardner Denver as an Air Compressor Assembly Technician. After retiring from there, he enjoyed as much time as possible fishing, spending time with his kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, and loving on his dogs.

In addition to his wife he is survive by three children, Leon Welch, Jr. of Sedalia, Robin Ewing (Kurt) of Green Ridge, and Jason Welch (Kristy) of Blue Springs, MO; five grandchildren, Brittany (Brett), Brooklyn (Weston), Blaine, Devon (Morgan), and Adam; three great-grandchildren, Chase, Kennedy, and Gemma; a brother, Jerry Welch (Paula) of Lone Jack, MO; an uncle, Bobby York, of Rolla, MO; many cousins, including, Chris York of St. Charles, MO; and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life gathering and visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Friday, May 6, 2022 at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia.

Burial will be at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, MO.

Pallbearers will be Weston Bailey, Brett Shoop, Devon Welch, Adam Welch, and Blaine Ewing.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sedalia Animal Shelter in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
