Peter J. Filis Jr., 60, of Sedalia, MO, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2026, at his home in Sedalia, Missouri. He was born on September 12, 1965 in Queens, New York the son of Peter John Filis Sr. and Josephine (Lorenzo) Filis, who preceded him in death.

On January 14, 1984, in New Port Richey, FL, he was united in marriage to Celeste Cooper, who resides in the home.

Peter was a proud graduate of Hudson High School, Hudson, FL, Class of 1983. Following high school, Peter enlisted into the United States Air Force and served his country honorably from September 1983 until March 2021.

Peter was an avid Florida Gator fan and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He enjoyed the outdoors and especially loved spending time with family during holidays and special occasions.

In addition to his wife, Peter is survived by a daughter, Danielle Young and her husband Aaron and a son, Kaleb Filis and his wife Brook all of Warrensburg, Missouri. Four grandchildren, Braylon, Olivia, Elliot, Landry; a sister, Linda Belmonte of Patchogue, New York; a numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

In addition to his parents, Peter was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Filis and Tom Filis.

A memorial service be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2026, at Cornerstone Baptist Church with Pastor Roger Austin. Full military honors will be conducted by the Whiteman Air Force Base Honor Guard and the VFW Post #2591 prior to memorial services.

Memorial contributions may be made to Tunnel 2 Towers or to the Tim Tebow Foundation in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
