Robert "Bob" D. Forsyth, 91, of Sedalia, MO, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia. He was born on July 26, 1934, in Johnson County, MO, the son of Kenneth "Bill" Ora Forsyth and Florene "Taddy" (Crawford) Forsyth, who preceded him in death.
Bob was a proud graduate of Sweet Springs High School, Class of 1952. Following high school, he began his lifelong career in agriculture, working as a dedicated farmer in the row crop, cattle, and hog industry. In his younger years, Bob enjoyed hunting and trapping and was an active member of the Missouri National Guard, where he set a single game scoring record on the National Guard basketball team.
An adventurous spirit, Bob earned his pilot's license in his late twenties and cherished the freedom and exhilaration of flying. His passion for farming and commitment to excellence earned him second place in the regional Outstanding Young Farmer's Association competition. He also loved attending the annual Old Threshers Steam and Tractor Show in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, where he admired the history and craftsmanship of the agricultural past.
For nineteen winters, Bob escaped Missouri's cold weather to enjoy the warmth of South Texas. In his retirement, he kept busy woodworking and building furniture, always finding joy in creating something with his hands. Later in life, affectionately known around town as "Scooter Bob," he could often be seen cruising Ohio Street and Broadway on his little red scooter. Bob was a familiar face at the Missouri State Fair, rarely missing opening day and attending as many days as he could each year.
Above all, Bob deeply loved his family. He treasured the time spent with his six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, who brought endless joy to his life.
Bob is survived by two children, Jim Forsyth (Denise) of Davenport, IA, and Terri Flippin (Jeff) of Blue Springs, MO; six grandchildren, Ryan Flippin, Aaron Flippin, Shay Caley, Amanda Wendling, Magness Puhrmann, and Andrew Forsyth; thirteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his son, Larry Forsyth, and his brother, Jack Forsyth.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 20, 2025, at Rea Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Mark Engler officiating.
