Robert Joseph West, 71, of Sedalia, MO passed away Friday, July 23, 2021, at Bothwell Regional Health Center. He was born on November 5, 1949, in Sedalia, the son of John West and Wanda (Smith) West, who preceded him in death.
In Sedalia, at New Hope Baptist Church he was united in marriage to Donna Legg, who resides in the home.
He attended Washington grade school and Smith-Cotton High School. Bob joined and graduated from the Peace Corp learning the trade of auto mechanic which he excelled in and mastered. He worked for and side by side with Forest Allen at General Motors and Transmission. Later on he was employed at Enersys Corp in Warrensburg.
Bob's life was dedicated to loving and caring for Donna and her sons. His second love was for working on or participating in any form of car racing. He was passionate lover of all things NASCAR. He had the heart of a lion and a love of a lamb. A truly good, good man, who was loved by many. Our loss, Heavens gain.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two brothers, William "Billy" West of Grain Valley, MO and Scott West of Sedalia, MO; two sisters, Linda Coats (Mike) of Sedalia and Teresa West-Dehling of Marshall, MO; five step sons, Stan (Daniel) Kimbrell of Illinois, Mark (Kathryn) Kimbrell, Mike (Cathy) Kimbrell, Steve Kimbrell and Stewart Kimbrell all of Sedalia; five grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Rea Funeral Chapel with Pastor Duane Duchesne officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to Down Syndrome Guild of Great Kansas City in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
