Russell "Allen" Cooper, 77, of Sedalia, MO, passed away at his home on September 21, 2025. He was born on June 19, 1948, in Sedalia, MO, to Otto and Mildred Cooper, both of whom preceded him in death.
On September 23, 1967, he married Nicola Kathleen Hayworth in Sedalia, MO, and she survives him.
Allen graduated from Smith-Cotton High School in 1967. He attended State Fair Community College and later transferred to Central Missouri State University, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice. He worked for the Sedalia Democrat for over 45 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing golf, but his favorite pastime was spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Nicky, Allen is survived by three sons: Shawn Cooper (Carol), Travis Cooper (Connie), and Matthew Cooper (Misty); ten grandchildren: Ray Basye Jr., Adoree Basye, Honey Basye, Brandon Cooper (Julie), Brock Cooper, Madison Cooper, Jessica Cooper, Sarah Cooper, and Elizabeth Cooper; several great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Larry Cooper (Hannah) and Larry Dale Whipple, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Robert Cooper and George Cooper, and two sisters, Phyllis Weskamp and Sue Bellamy.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Centennial Park in Sedalia, MO, at shelter #5.
Cremation arrangements are being handled by Rea Funeral Chapel.
