Obituary For Russell E. Harvey

Russell "Rick" E. Harvey, 65, of Sedalia, MO, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at his home. He was born on November 14, 1957 in Denver, CO the son of Robert Haase and Goldie Marie (Steward-Harvey) Haase, who preceded him in death.

On June 27, 1987 in Sedalia, MO, he was united in marriage to Angela S. Garrigus, who resides in the home.

Rick served his country honorable in the United States Army from 1976 until 1982. During his military career, Rick entered basic training at Ft. Knox, KY. After basic training he served most of his career stationed in Germany as Military Police. Rick worked in construction. He owned and operated Harv's Construction in Sedalia and later worked in maintenance at Tyson Foods.

Rick enjoyed fishing, hunting, and was an avid Kansas City Chief fan. Rick was known for his athletic abilities and was always involved in playing sports. He was on the Centennial Park diving team where he won many ribbons and awards. He was a member of the Tyson pool league and local bowling league. He loved coaching his kids and watching them play ball. Rick especially loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Rick is survived by five sons, Kaleb Harvey (Kassy) of Tipton, Cody Harvey of Sedalia, Kristopher "Matt" Harvey of Sedalia, Russell Harvey II (Alicia) of Stillwater, OK, and Michael Harvey of Stillwater, OK; a daughter, Hilary Jo Gentry (Adam), of Gulf Shores, AL; twenty-one grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Gary Ballard (Pam) of Sedalia; two sisters, Cheryl Furnell (Jerry) of Lee's Summit, MO and Charlene Randall of Hudson, FL; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in death by a sister, Kathy Ballard; a brother, Ronald "Pud" Harvey; a niece Riley Garrigus and a nephew, Robert Kugler.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, November 6, 2023, at Rea Funeral Chapel. Full military honors will be conducted by the United States Army, and VFW Post #2591, prior to the service.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 5, 2023, from 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Honorary bearers will be Jimmy Brown, Jose Villafona, Joe Hernandez, Ralph Garrigus, Robbie Garrigus, Ryan Garrigus, Nate Harvey, and Jr. Petree.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sedalia Animal Shelter or Bothwell Cancer Center in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
