Ruth Delores Walker, 79, of Hughesville, Missouri, passed away Friday, January 16, 2026, at Lincoln Community Care Center in Lincoln, Missouri. She was born July 20, 1946, in Cole Camp, Missouri, the daughter of Wilbert John Henry Hobein and Edna Margaret (Ehlers) Hobein, who preceded her in death.
Ruth grew up on a farm north of Mora, Missouri, along with her sister Ethel. She loved helping her dad, Wilbert, with chores around the farm. Growing up, she spoke Low German at home as a part of her German heritage.
Ruth was a proud graduate of Cole Camp High School, Class of 1964. Ruth went on to further her education at Central Missouri State University, earning a business certificate in 1965 and later earning an Associate's Degree at State Fair Community College in 1998.
On October 15, 1967, in Mora, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Robert Walker, who survives in the home. They moved to a farm in the Hughesville, Missouri area, where they have resided since. Robert and Ruth were married for 58 years.
She was first and foremost a homemaker, devoting many years to raising her family. She took great joy in caring for her husband, children, and grandchildren. Her devotion to them was loving and tireless. In later years, she worked at Inter-State Studios and Ditzfeld Transfer.
Ruth took comfort in her Lutheran faith and was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Sedalia. She enjoyed music and played the piano. Her favorite musical group was The Statler Brothers, and she listened to their music often. She loved tending her flowers and baked a mean chocolate chip cookie.
In addition to her husband, Robert, Ruth is survived by three children: Debbie Thebeau (Greg) of St. Louis, Mark Walker (Jennifer) of Sedalia, and Kevin Walker (Katie) of Hughesville; five grandchildren: Ashley Thebeau, Nolan Walker, Natalie Walker, Grace Walker, and Mary Walker; a sister, Ethel Carson (David) of Mora; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Rea Funeral Chapel with Pastor Andrew Tessone officiating. The family will receive friends at the chapel one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery in Cole Camp, Missouri.
