Sarah (Sally) Boyd Lynn of Sedalia, Missouri, passed away on July 28, 2024, at the age of 93. Sally was born in Knob Noster, Missouri, on May 30, 1931, to John and Sadie Brendel Boyd. Sally attended Knob Noster High School and graduated second in her class in 1949.
In January of 1950, Sally started working as a bookkeeper at the Bank of Knob Noster. On July 4, 1954, Sally was introduced to Charles E. Lynn, who was stationed at Whiteman Air Force Base at the time. They were married on October 9, 1954, and after Charlie's tour of duty in the Air Force ended, they moved to Sedalia in 1956, where they lived and raised their family. Charlie preceded Sally in death, passing away on July 5, 2011.
Sally was a stay-at-home mom who loved her family very much. Sally truly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and always had a smile for them, a tune to sing with them, or a game to play with them. In her free time, she loved to bake and garden and enjoyed playing the piano or organ for fun and the enjoyment of others. Sally was the kind of person who brought joy into every room she walked. She was a member
of Christ & Trinity Lutheran Church. She also loved her dogs and faithful companions over the years.
Sally is survived by her three sons and their families - Tony, his wife Debbie Sue (Bentonville, AR) and their daughters Katie (husband Kyle) Singleton and Torie Lynn; Joe, his wife Debbie Elaine (Clever, MO) and daughter Melissa (husband Scott and great-grandsons Mahlon, Bryce, Jase, Eli and Gabe); Doug, his wife Jenni (Leawood, KS) and their sons Andy (wife Tracy and great-granddaughters Mckenzie, Olivia, and Ellie) and Jeff (wife Mercedes). She is also survived by three extraordinary people in her life, such as Rob and Kristin (Oehrke), Largent, and Chad Oehrke.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, George (Red), Porter, Gene, Harold, and sisters Peggy Swearingen and Bess Walker.
Sally moved to Nixa, MO, in the fall of 2018 and lived until passing at Castlewood Senior Living. The family would like to thank the Castlewood staff for taking great care of their mom and granny over the last five years. They would also like to thank St. Croix Hospice for their care in her final months.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at Knob Noster Cemetery in Knob Noster, Missouri.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in Sally's memory to the Christ & Trinity Lutheran Church, in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
