Sharon "Sherry" Jane Purdy, 72, of Sedalia, MO, formerly of Carrollton, MO, passed away Sunday, November 6, 2022, at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia. She was born on February 15, 1950 in Terre Haute, IN, daughter of Archie Lee Newman and Martha Ruth (Riggins) Newman, who preceded her in death.
Sharon was a member of the Cole Camp Methodist Church where she was active in online Church services. She was Baptized on September 20, 2020. Sharon believed in her Lord and Savior. She enjoyed doing crafts and was always involved with her grandchildren. Sharon loved visiting and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved to go to the woods during deer season with her grandchildren and she was a avid Chiefs fan. Sharon loved her pets and had a special love for her cat "Salem".
Survivors include three children, Kerry Ann Branchcomb and her husband Rick, of Story City, IA, Bruce Saltsgaver and his wife Barbara, of Cole Camp, and Libby Sue Lorenz and her husband John, of Sedalia; eleven grandchildren, Delwyn William Rosebrough (Ada Salas), Jacob Allen Saltsgaver (Suzanne), Haley Elizabeth Bleck (Tyler Rank), Keirsten Bryann Lorenz, Keegan Alexander Lorenz (Katelyn Buxton), Korbin Patrick Lorenz, Justin Andrew Saltsgaver, Landon Bradley Saltsgaver (Dusti Antle), DeLanae Marcella Smith, Tyler Dean Saltsgaver, and Elizabeth LeeAnn Saltsgaver; eight great grandchildren, Jolie Sue Saltsgaver, Quaid Thomas Saltsgaver, Whitley Kate Saltsgaver, Hal Gideon Rosebrough, Abigayle Sue-Lynn Bleck, Madison Elaine Rank, Matthew William Rank, and Olivia Rosalyn Rank; a brother, Tommy Newman, of Carrollton, MO; and two sisters, Deborah Newman of Kansas and Tanya Stearley, of Brazil, IN.
In addition to her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by a daughter, Lesia Lynn Smith; a brother, Jimmy Newman.
A celebration of life service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at Rea Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Tanner Wiley officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral chapel.
A private family burial will be at the Cole Camp Cemetery, Cole Camp, MO, at a later date.
Honorary bearers will be her grandsons.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sedalia Animal Shelter in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
