Shirley Marie Kindle, 89, of Sedalia, Missouri, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center in Sedalia. She was born on August 26, 1936, in Sedalia, the daughter of Lon and Helen (Leet) Branum, who preceded her in death.

On November 3, 1954, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Shirley was united in marriage to James Oscar Kindle Sr. They shared nearly 60 years of marriage before his passing on October 5, 2014.

Shirley was a proud graduate of Smith-Cotton High School, Class of 1954. Following graduation, she and James married and began raising their family. They later moved to Texas, where Shirley worked as a florist for many years. Her creativity, kindness, and appreciation for beauty were reflected in the floral arrangements she created.

In 2017, Shirley returned to Sedalia and quickly became active in serving her community. She volunteered at the Bothwell Regional Health Center Gift Shop, Open Door Ministries, Meals on Wheels, and local blood drives. Shirley had a generous heart and found it difficult to say "no" whenever someone needed help. She was always willing to give her time and talents to others.

Shirley was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sedalia. She treasured the friendships she made throughout her life and enjoyed playing cards with two different card groups, going out to lunch with friends, and spending time with the Lovely Ladies, a support and social group for widows. She also looked forward to trips to Branson with her group of friends, where they enjoyed attending shows and making lasting memories together.

Shirley will be remembered for her caring nature, her willingness to serve, and the love and friendship she generously shared with those around her.

Survivors include three children, Michael Kindle and his wife, Tonya, of Belton, Missouri, James Kindle and his wife, Judy, of Sedalia, and Tracy Sanders of Seguin, Texas; 12 grandchildren, Meghan, Michael, Nathan, Amanda, Chelsea, Tiffany, Mason, Collin, Jeremy, James, Tanner, and Kyndle; 22 great-grandchildren; a half-sister, Sheryl Martin and her husband, Tony, of Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her husband and parents, Shirley was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Schmieg; a sister, Dorothy Holland; and two brothers, William "Bill" Branum and John Branum.

A graveside service and burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Memorial Park Cemetery, with Pastor Jeremy Freeman officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
