Obituary For Susan Diane Young

Susan "Suzie" Diane Young, 57, of Sedalia, MO, passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia. She was born on February 12, 1966, in Sedalia, the daughter of Frankie Joe Young and Lula Mae Dean (Reed) Young, who preceded her in death.

On December 5, 1992, in Sedalia, MO, she was united in marriage to Rodney Collins, who resides in Sedalia.

Suzie was a 1984 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School. She graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from CMSU in Warrensburg, MO, and a Master's Degree in Accounting from William-Woods University. Suzie worked for the Sedalia Children's Therapy Center as a payroll specialist, accounting clerk, and resource manager. She served as 2nd Ward City Council Woman in 2009. Suzie always enjoyed helping with the D.A.R.E program, especially during the car shows hosted in Sedalia by the City Municipal Building. Her hobbies included collecting Precious Moments memorabilia, scrapbooking, and doing arts and crafts with her sons. Suzie especially loved spending time with her two boys.

Survivors include two sons, Ryan Collins, of Kansas City, MO, and Cody Collins, of Yuma, AZ; aunts and uncles, Maudie Lueck of San Antonio, TX, Etta and Lyman Ridgeway of Liberty, MO, Jerry and Annette Young of Sedalia, Jackie and Irvin Allee of Sedalia, and Jeff Young of Sedalia.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 19, 2023, at Rea Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Robert Sisney officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral chapel.

The burial will be at La Monte Cemetery, La Monte, MO.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Collins, James Dale Ollison, Dale Hinken, Clayton Hambsch, Derek Gehlken, and Todd McGinnis.

Honorary bearers will be Jeff Young, Irvin Allee, Jerry Young, Jackie Allee, Steve Ridgeway, Alan Allee, and Richard Young.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sedalia Center for Human Services, 1500 Ewing Dr, Sedalia, MO 65301.

A special thank you to Melinda Strange, who was raised like sisters with Suzie.
