Sydney Chauntay Holt, 46, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at her home in Kansas City. She was born on December 17, 1979, in Sedalia, Missouri, the daughter of Winfred Richmond (Monique) of Kenosha, Wisconsin and Genice Simms, who preceded her in death on July 12, 2021.
In 2016, in Sedalia, Missouri, Sydney was united in marriage to Tyson Tyler Holt, who also preceded her in death.
Sydney was born and raised in Sedalia and later made her home in Overland Park, Kansas. She also lived in Fort Worth, Texas, for nearly eight years before returning to Missouri. She had a vibrant spirit and a love for singing gospel music, with Whitney Houston being her favorite musical artist. Sydney also enjoyed dancing and entertaining others. She was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and enjoyed playing the lottery, especially scratch-off tickets. Gifted with a strong aptitude for numbers, Sydney excelled in her career. She brought joy wherever she went and deeply cherished the time she spent with her family and friends, who meant everything to her.
In addition to her father, Winfred Richmond, Sydney is survived by her four children: De'Andre Laney (Tatum Baldwin) of Warrensburg; Alizae Wazir of Springfield, Missouri; Tateana Wazir of Kansas City, Missouri; and Nyla Talley of Kansas City, Missouri; two grandchildren, Ammarrah Charde Curry and Naylah Laney; three brothers, Maurice Byrd (Misti) of Sedalia, Byron Byrd (Cindy) of Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, and Quincy Singletary of Greenwood, South Carolina; two sisters, Destiny Richmond of Los Angeles, California, and Glenda Inez Marsh (Jack) of Springfield, Missouri; nieces and nephews, LeKeya, L.J., Justice, Janay, Andrew, Autumn, Felicia, Chris, Maurice, Malachi, Diamond, Alexandria, and Indiah; and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her mother and husband, Sydney was preceded in death by two brothers, Alonzo Byrd and Maurice Byrd in infancy; a sister, Jeanna Charde Sims; and a great-niece, Jazmen Azeez.
A celebration of life gathering with family and friends will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia.
