Dr. Velma "Joyce" Kimball, 93, of Sedalia, MO, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2026, at her home. She was born on March 22, 1933, in Parsons, KS, the daughter of Jack E. Newfield and Anna Easterday Newfield, who preceded her in death.
On June 24, 1981, in Sedalia, MO, she was united in marriage to Darrell Kimball, who survives of the home.
Joyce was a proud graduate of Parsons High School in Parsons, KS, Class of 1951. She continued her education at Kansas State Teachers College in Pittsburg, KS, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education. She later earned her Doctorate of Education from the University of Missouri.
Joyce was part of the original administration at State Fair Community College, where she served as Dean of Students and Registrar. She devoted her entire professional career to the college until her retirement in 1996.
In addition to her dedication to education, Joyce was a talented ceramic artist. She owned and operated Kimball Arts, her own ceramics studio in Sedalia. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking, and traveling across the country with her husband, Darrell.
In addition to her husband, Darrell, Joyce is survived by three sons, Steve Fielding and his wife, Cheryl, of Springfield, MO, David Fielding and his wife, Laurette, of St. Charles, MO, and Dr. James Fielding and his wife, Lynne, of Phoenix, AZ; five grandchildren, Sarah, Anna, Emily, Clare, and Cydney; and twelve great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her daughter, Jeri Ann Fielding, and her sister, Patty Newfield.
A celebration of life service will be announced by the family at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the State Fair Community College Endowment Fund.
Cremation arrangements are in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
