Vernon Karl Lake

Vernon Karl Lake, 91, of Smithton, MO, passed away on Monday, July 3, 2023, surrounded by his family at home. He was born on September 12, 1931, in Toledo, OH, the son of Lester Washington Lake and Matie Kasten, who preceded him in death.

On December 12, 1956, in Waterville, OH, he was united in marriage to Sandra Marie Leffel, who preceded him in death on October 21, 2022.

Vernon served his country honorably in the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany for two years. He enjoyed hunting, traveling, and flying. He was a dairy farmer of the year in Burnette, WI, before he moved to Missouri. He accomplished many personal goals in his lifetime with his wife and family by his side.

Vernon is survived by his daughters, Carolyn Ward of Deleware, OH, Karla Lake of Smithton, MO, Karen and Gene Stoltz of Smithton, MO; four grandchildren, Jason Ward, David Ward, Aaron Ward, and Jimmy Ward; and two great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents and wife, Sandra, Vernon is preceded in death by five brothers, Lester Lake, Donald Lake, George Lake, Norman Lake, Raymond Lake, and three sisters, Eleanor S., Leola Dregger, and Carmma Lake.

A private family burial will be held in Swanton, OH.
