Obituary

Vickie Lane Lucas, 75, of Lincoln, MO, passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Parkview Health Care Facility in Bolivar, MO. She was born on November 14, 1950, in Grapevine, TX, the daughter of Robert "Bob" Eugene Cate and Virginia "Sally Mae" (Bowers) Cate, who preceded her in death.

As a child, Vickie moved with her family from Texas to Edmonson, MO, where she was raised. On March 29, 1969, at Edmonson Baptist Church, she was united in marriage to Russell Lee Lucas, who survives of the home. After their marriage, Vickie and Russell lived briefly in Smithton, MO, before moving to Lincoln, where they made their home and spent the majority of their married life together.

Vickie had a heart for caring for others, which was reflected throughout her career in the medical field. She began her career as an Emergency Medical Technician with the Cole Camp Ambulance Base. At the age of 40, she made the decision to further her education and pursue a career in nursing. She earned her Licensed Practical Nursing degree from State Fair Community College and went on to work at Bothwell Regional Health Center, serving as both an emergency room and float nurse. She later found her calling in home health care, spending the majority of her nursing career caring for patients through Benton County Home Health in Warsaw, MO.

Vickie's Christian faith was at the center of her life. She was a founding member of Edmonson Baptist Church, along with her parents, grandparents, brother, and sister-in-law. Vickie was also a past member of Cole Camp Baptist Church and Cedar Grove Baptist Church. She loved the Lord with all her heart, and her faith was evident in the way she lived, cared for others, and loved her family. She was a devoted wife and a loving Christian mother who dedicated her life to her husband and daughters. Her kindness, compassion, and faith touched the lives of those she met throughout her lifetime.

Vickie especially enjoyed spending time outdoors. She loved fishing, mushroom hunting, gardening, and tending to her flower beds. She also enjoyed crafting, attending auctions and garage sales, and, above all, spending time with her family.

In addition to her husband, Russell, Vickie is survived by two daughters, Jeanene Bagley and her husband, Kurt, of Lincoln, MO, and Dawn Katzer and her husband, Russell, of Bolivar, MO; five grandchildren, Tray, Tory, Reed, Kyndle, and Kaden; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Randy Cate and his wife Linda, of Lincoln, Missouri; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Edmonson Baptist Church, with Pastor John Brummet officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.

Burial will be in Edmonson Baptist Church Cemetery, Edmonson, Missouri.

Pallbearers will be Tray Lange, Kyndle Katzer, Kaden Katzer, Russell Katzer, Kurt Bagley, and Reed Bagley.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kelly Cate and Aaron Cate.
