Obituary For Virgil Dean Rodgers II

Virgil Dean Rodgers II, 60, of Sedalia, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at his office in Tipton, MO. He was born on December 23, 1961, in Sedalia, MO, the son of Virgil Dean Rodgers and Minnie Ellen (Gray) Rodgers, who preceded him in death.

Mr. Rodgers, an attorney, attended UMKC Law School, Drury College, and Smith-Cotton High School. He loved animals, taking in many homeless cats and dogs over the years. He was also involved in speech and debate as well as music and theatre while in school and afterward acted in many Sedalia Community Theatre productions. Mr. Rodgers was an Eagle Scout and a Mason. He is survived by two sisters, Keli Rodgers of Kansas City, MO, and Kami Rodgers Brendel of Kansas City, KS.; two aunts, Dorothy Robertson, of Sedalia, MO, and Frankie Roberts of Victoria, TX; several cousins, Michael Gray, of Jefferson City, MO, Jack Cook and Kathie Cook of Columbia, MO, Connie Rodgers of Liberty, MO, Tom Roberts of Cambridge, MA, Roger Roberts of Dallas, TX, and Joe Roberts of Victoria, TX.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two aunts, Jane Gray and Lela Rodgers; three uncles, Cal Rodgers, Jr., Bill Gray, and C.L. Robertson and cousins, Kay Cook and Stev England. A celebration of life service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 20, 2023, at Rea Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sedalia Animal Shelter, KC Pet Project, or ASPCA in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
