Virgil Lewis Schlobohm, 84, of Smithton, MO, passed away on Friday, March 31, 2023, at the Golden Age Living Center in Stover. He was born on August 10, 1938, in Smithton, MO, the son of Lewis and Nellie (Wiechen) Schlobohm, who preceded him in death.
On December 10, 1967, in Sedalia, MO, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Ann Schlobohm, who preceded him in death on December 18, 2017.
Virgil was a farmer who loved gardening. He worked for almost 40 years as a mechanic at Pittsburgh Corning. He loved spending his time outdoors doing anything from picking up sticks to mowing the yard. He enjoyed listening to country music and having a good home-cooked meal. He loved spending time with his grandson and extended family. He enjoyed all kinds of animals.
Virgil is survived by a son, Virgil Len Schlobohm, and fiance Kathy Moore of Smithton; a daughter, Shirley Ann Schlobohm of Sedalia; one grandson, Coby Schlobohm and girlfriend Kelly Shew of Evansville, IN; two step-grandchildren, Kelly Siegel (Aaron) of Sedalia, Cody Jaco of Smithton; four step-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Leonel Schlobohm of Kansas City, MO.
Besides his parents and wife, Virgil is preceded in death by his sister, Rosella Anderson.
A celebration of life service will be on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia.
A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the chapel.
Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 12:00 p.m.
Honorary bearers will be Leonel Schlobohm and Coby Schlobohm.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
