Virginia Mae Hursman, 74, of Sedalia, MO, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, TN. She was born on October 4, 1950, in Sedalia, MO, the daughter of Jess Brownfield, Jr. and Nellie Mae (Shull) Brownfield, who preceded her in death.
On August 26, 1989, in Sedalia, MO, she was united in marriage to Eddie Ray Hursman, who preceded her in death on April 4, 2021.
Virginia was a proud graduate of Green Ridge High School, Class of 1968. She held various manufacturing jobs throughout her career, including positions at Rival and Lamy's. Most recently, she retired from Zephyr's and Walmart in 2019. Virginia enjoyed collecting owl figurines and loved visiting casinos and traveling.
Survivors include a daughter, Leslie Stevenson (Brent) of Sedalia, from a previous marriage to Ray Hays Jr.; a son, Kevin Prall (Joni) of Sedalia, from a previous marriage to Danny Prall; Jimmy Hursman, and a daughter, Brandy (Hursman) Dickerson, both of Houstonia, from a previous marriage to Eddie Hursman, Sedalia; eight grandchildren, Alex (Taylor), Jade, Shelby, Josh (Kierra), Chaz, Danny, Chase, and Hunter; two great-grandsons, Kaysen and Anthony; two great-granddaughters, Chloe and Hadley; a sister, Linda Magnuson (Ty) and a brother, Richard Brownfield both of Sedalia.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Danny Brownfield, and her husband of 32 years, Eddie Hursman.
She was recently reunited with a childhood friend, Johnnie Kreisel, with whom she had enjoyed traveling, many adventures, and laughing with.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Rea Funeral Chapel with Duane Brownfield officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brent, Alex, Taylor, Jade, and Chloe Stevenson, Johnnie Kreisel, Jimmy Hursman, Brandy Dickerson, Kevin Prall, Brad Blankenship, and Natasha Cowgill.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sedalia Animal Shelter in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
