Obituary For Wayne Woodford Stackhouse

Wayne Woodford Stackhouse, 93, of Sedalia, MO, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at the Essex Assisted Living in Sedalia. He was born on July 12, 1930, in Osceola, MO, the son of George Howard Stackhouse and Thelma Marie (Shelton) Stackhouse, who preceded him in death.

On August 21, 1960, in Kansas City, MO, he was united in marriage to Martha Jean Tally, who preceded him in death on January 5, 2017.

Wayne was a 1948 graduate of Osceola High School. He graduated from Central Missouri State College with a bachelor's degree in business/accounting. Wayne worked for the IRS out of Kansas City prior to moving to Sedalia. Wayne and his wife Martha owned and operated Stackhouse Tax Service in Sedalia.

Wayne was a member of East Sedalia Baptist Church, where he served as Treasurer, Deacon, and a Sunday school teacher. He was also a member of the Sedalia Rotary Club, where he served as the special project treasurer. Wayne enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, gardening, and photography. He was known for his 200 tomato plants in his backyard garden. Wayne especially enjoyed going with his family back to the old homestead in Osceola to enjoy the outdoors.

Survivors include two daughters, Shirley (Jeff ) Carver and Sandra (Tom) McMullin, all of Sedalia; five grandsons, Matthew Carver, Caleb Carver, Jacob Carver, Clinton McMullin, and Cole McMullin; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Dale Stackhouse; a sister-in-law, Marcine Wooldridge; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, Wayne was preceded in death by two brothers, Ernest Stackhouse and Charles "Pat" Stackhouse, and a sister, Bonnie Toti.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at Rea Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Kevin Anstine officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel.

The burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery, Sedalia, MO.

Pallbearers will be Matt Carver, Caleb Carver, Jacob Carver, Clint McMullin, Cole McMullin, and Jesse McMullin.

Memorial contributions may be made to the East Sedalia Baptist Church in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
