Wilbur Lee Mosier, 94, of Sedalia, MO, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at Primrose in Sedalia. He was born on July 26, 1928, in Syracuse, MO, the son of Emil and Vandalia Carlola King Mosier, who preceded him in death.
On May 28, 1950, in Sedalia, MO, he was united in marriage to Jeanne Ann Rowlette, who preceded him in death on January 1, 2013.
Wilbur served in the United States Navy from 1945 to 1947, serving on the USS New Jersey. After that, he worked for the United States Postal Service, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church since 1952. He enjoyed woodworking, reading, bowling, and, most of all, spending time with his family. Everyone that knew him thought he was kind.
Wilbur is survived by his son Mark S. Mosier and his wife Paula of Overland Park, KS; his daughter Cristy L. Poppinga and her husband John of Sedalia; three grandchildren, Rebecca Kolsky of Sedalia, Emma Mosier, and Ian Mosier, both of Overland Park, KS.
Besides his parents and wife, Wilbur is preceded in death by seven brothers, Loua Mosier, Leo Mosier, William Mosier, RV Mosier, Francis Mosier, Amil Mosier, and Norman Mosier; three sisters, Dorothy Brubaker, Delphia Self, and Margorie Linhardt; and a son-in-law, Leland Kolsky.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at the First United Methodist Church on Thompson Blvd, Sedalia, with pastors Candace Fowler officiating.
Visitation will be at the church from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 21, 2023.
A burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Sedalia, with full military honors by the United States Navy and VFW Post #2591.
Pallbearers will be Gerry Cecil, Greg Cecil, Martin White, Bradley Arnold, Rodney Iuchs, and Mike Ingram.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
