Beard
Mar 7, 1959 — Aug 10, 2026
William "Pete" Beard, 67, of Smithton, MO, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, on Monday, August 10, 2026. He was born on March 7, 1959, in Sedalia, MO, the son of Hank and Ada Mae (Bryson) Beard, who preceded him in death.
On March 17, 1979, in Windsor, MO, Pete was united in marriage to Geneva Ann Beard, who survives in Windsor.
Pete was a proud graduate of Smithton High School, Class of 1977. Throughout his working years, he served as an EMT with LifeGuard Ambulance Service in Sedalia and as a sheriff's deputy with the Pettis and Henry County Sheriff's Offices. He also worked for Wincom Communications, Duke Manufacturing, OATS Transportation, and the City of Sedalia.
Pete's greatest enjoyment came from time spent with family and friends. He especially looked forward to the annual deer camp at the family farm, a 24-year tradition filled with good times and lasting memories. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart, and he treasured the weekends they spent together.
In addition to Geneva, Pete is survived by two children, Nicole Townsend of Sedalia and Matt Beard and his wife, Mallory, of Versailles, MO, a bonus son, Justin Bray and his wife, Kelsey, of Sedalia; nine grandchildren, Allie, Audrey, Madelyn, Masyn, McCoy, Makynna, Jason, Braydon, and Gabby.
In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by an uncle, Jack Bryson; a cousin, Jimmy Walker; and other extended family members.
A celebration of Pete's life will be announced by the family at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Pettis County Fire District in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
