Obituary For William "Bill" Carlyle Dotson

William Carlyle "Bill" Dotson, 76, passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at the V.A. Hospital in Columbia, MO.

Bill lived most of his life in Sedalia at 706 N. New York St. He graduated in 1965 from Smith-Cotton High School. After graduation, Bill applied for an apprenticeship at Blue Young Sheet Metal Union while in the Army. After his honorable discharge, he was able to continue his apprenticeship until he earned his journeyman rating. He worked for several sheet metal companies in the Kansas City area until his retirement.

Bill enjoyed working in the yard and tending his flowers. His Iris' were absolutely beautiful. He often went to rummage sales and always found some treasures. Bill loved to attend gun shows. These shows had him traveling to cities and towns across Missouri. He met many of the same folks each time and made many friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, James Orval and Mildred Ruth Dotson; a sister, Carol Annette Dotson; and a brother, James Orval (J.O.) Dotson, II.

He is survived by two sisters, Nancy Kay (Jim) Rittenhouse and Earlene Hutcheson; a sister-in-law, Joyce Dotson; one nephew, Dale Hutcheson; three nieces, Agusta (Doug) Cribelar, Marci and Stephanie Dotson; six great-nephews, Alex (Victoria) Cribelar, Ryan (Marissa) Cribelar, Ian, Jace, Phoenix, and Pharris Dotson.

A celebration of life gathering of family and friends will be from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans Association in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
